Support the Program

There are a few meaningful ways to help more bookshelves reach more children. Here's how.

A note on tax deductions: Tannenbaum Libraries is not a registered nonprofit. Monetary donations are not accepted and contributions are not tax-deductible. Every shelf is funded directly by Walnut Street Bookkeeping. Your support goes directly to kids, no overhead, no administration.

Ways to Help

Three ways to make a difference

Most Impactful

Spread the Word

Know someone who works at or runs a shelter that serves children? Tell them about us. The shelters that need us most are often the ones that haven't heard of us yet.

Share this site, follow us on social media and share our story, mention the program, or simply pass along the idea. Word of mouth is how small programs like this grow into something bigger.

Donate Children's Books

While most books are purchased or sourced directly by Tannenbaum Libraries, funded by Walnut Street Bookkeeping , we are open to receiving clean, smoke-free book donations. Some books we can accept include:

  • — Board books for toddlers and infants
  • — Picture books for early readers
  • — Chapter books for older children
  • — Titles that celebrate diversity, inclusion, and empathy
  • — Stories where every child can see themselves on the page

Reach out through our contact page and select "I want to donate books," we'll get back to you with details.
